How did you feel?
I was in pain, my whole body felt like a physical wreck and I was depressed and upset.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
Simone is a wonderful therapist. She has helped me tremendously. My strength has increased, my pain lessened. I'm beginning to feel like my self again and that is wonderful. Simone was recommended by my son, whom she had also helped.

Having pain, victimized (accident was not my fault), wondering if I was ever to get back to "normal."

How did you feel?
Always uncomfortable. Unable to turn my head from side to side. Very limited.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
I was skeptical. I didn’t feel exercise and relaxation techniques would help. The folks here are the most sympathetic people I have encountered in a medical group. Their genuine concern is to see your lifestyle improve. Listen to and follow their advice. It will truly make a difference.

How did you feel?
Very nervous and a little scared. Wondering if I could do what was required of me. I’m nervous in new situations, so it was a real test.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
Don’t be nervous. Everyone was so nice. Relax and just do what you can. The sincerity made it easy. You’ll never find any people who can help more than at M.H.R..

How did you feel?
My Doctor said Physical Therapy would make it better. The thought of using my knee when it hurt so much didn’t exactly excite me. I was very nervous when I first came here.I thought they are going to really make it hurt worse.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
Put yourself in their hands and go with it. They are really wonderful here. They push you but they don’t push you too hard. If you keep at it you will appreciate your potential. The time spent here and the work I did was definitely well worth it. I’m back to where I was prior to my injury. I didn’t think I could do it. Give them a chance! It works!

How did you feel?
I was in a lot of pain, headaches constantly, stiffness, very little mobility- at the end of my rope!
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
I would tell anyone that if you reach the point that I was in, definitely look into therapy. It not only provided relaxation, but it taught me how to release the tension and what to do for myself to keep the tension somewhat at bay. It also put the control of my body back in my own hands!

Remember Your First Day at Massabesic Health Resources:
How did you feel?
Having been through a long process of immobilization (almost 9 months), I felt scared, frustrated that my foot and leg might not resume normal functioning. With a diagnosis of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, the additional symptoms of this condition sometimes impeded any progress I thought I could make and made my fears and frustrations even greater.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
With the knowledge, skill and support of my therapist, I was able to make significant progress. Not only on improving my functional ability, but also in dealing with the RSD symptoms, the setback etc., in a healthy way so I can maintain the progress I've made. And to be able to continue to make progress through effectively utilizing the therapeutic exercises given to me. I still have a ways to go and I'll try to follow this advice too. Be patient; take one step at a time; perceive even the smallest of improvements as a giant step towards recovery; utilize the support available, both here and at home; follow your exercise program and give yourself a pat on the back from time to time. If you find these things difficult to follow through on, you can be sure the staff here will help you in any way they possibly can.

How did you feel?
When I came to MHR on the first day I was skeptical and very nervous. I was tired and frustrated because there was not much I could do without feeling sore and achy after. My doctor recommended therapy and I thought I would try it.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
I am really glad I decided to give P.T. a try. I feel much better now. I listen to my body more than ever and make conscious decisions on the way I sit, breath, stand, bend and all the daily functions a person does without even thinking about it. I use to do them naturally wrong and I hope in time I will do things naturally right. The staff is great and I would highly recommend MHR to anyone.

I did not feel good and had quite a bit of pain. My range of motion was very limited. Emotionally hopeful but not completely sure I would ever get better as I had been in pain for so long.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
Stick with it, it does pay off in the end. Try not to overdo it, which is hard to do on your "good" days. Be patient and you will get better, but it does take time. Take with you everything you have learned about correct ways to do things so you will not go backwards in between your sessions.

Had a lot of back pain. Could hardly walk or keep posture straight up.

Keep at it and do all the home exercise, build up the walking. The pool is wonderful. It takes away all discomfort and pain. This good feeling lasts for a day or more. One gets stronger as they progress with exercise given.

How did you feel?
Frustrated! The pain and tired back discouraged me, as I was unable to do much without creating more discomfort. I was tense throughout my entire body and had lots of headaches.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
It works. Do what your therapist instructs you to do and do it faithfully. If you get discouraged for one reason or another, talk to them about it and don’t give up. It will be OK. And in the end you will see a significant change in your condition and in your ability to function as you want. Everyone at MHR is terrific and I thank all of them. Special thanks to my therapist, Simone- you have greatly improved my quality of life and I am grateful.

Remember Your First Day at Massabesic Health Resources:
How did you feel?
On Jan.16, 1997 I had a total hip replacement. My first appointment at MHR was on Jan.30. At that time I felt nervous because I did not know what to expect. By the time my first appointment was done, I felt very comfortable, all my questions were answered, and I was confident the staff was very knowledgeable. I came out with a positive attitude and knowing it would just be a matter of time before I am totally recovered from my surgery, and walking normal.

Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
It is now March 7,1997; I have graduated physical therapy. I would like to tell anyone that starting Physical Therapy, it is up to you and the type of attitude you bring to therapy. The staff at MHR will work with you, on an individual basis, and help you fulfill your goals. They are also very cautious with the type of therapy you do (The saying "No Pain, No Gain" is not true here!). So if your wearied, you need not be, they are here to help you accomplish your goals, or recovery without pain. I am very pleased with the results!
PS: It is also very important to do your home exercises, and take them seriously. That will defiantly help you to a faster recovery!

I was very stiff with very little movement. I had no confidence in my ability to improve.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
Do what you are shown to do, don’t rush or overdo it. Don’t expect to be cured over night. Progress will come in time. I am real pleased with my program.

Remember Your First Day at Massabesic Health Resources:
How did you feel?
When I first came to physical therapy I felt a bit nervous because I did not know what to expect (For example, what I would have to do and what they would be doing). My ankles had been bothering me a lot and I needed to make them stronger. When I came the first time they were uncomfortable for me.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
To someone just beginning in Physical Therapy I would tell them that the staff is great and they really help you to get better. They make you a big part in your own recovery and it gives you the control, which makes a lot of people more comfortable. It also gives you a chance to get better being able to do athletics or work. I think Physical Therapy is a great choice if you have any kinds of problems.

How did you feel?
I was in pain and nervous about the quality of my future due to my symptoms.
Now that you have completed your Physical Therapy, what would you say to someone just beginning?
Listen to what you are told. Some things don’t always make sense to us at first, but the results are proof that it does. Ask questions if you are unsure and most importantly make any changes they recommend a part of your daily life!

I was very limited to what I use to be able to do. I was impatient and wanted to be able to do things really quick.
